i’m 15, 5 5, 135 pounds, 20% body fat. i wanna get down to 125 pounds & 17% body fat, is that bad?
websites are telling me im underweight. which makes no sense, cause i’m fairly stocky and athletically built, i’ve also got fat around my belly. & i really wanna get down to 125 and around 17 % body fat.
i eat 1200 calories a day, and i’d say i’m VERY healthy for my age. i have a cheat day which i allow myself to get a cafeteria cookie from school, or eat some popcorn (not too much) but not chips, or fast food ever. I play fairly high level softball and basketball (rep/travel) i also horseback ride a lot. i’ve been doing this for about a year, i used to be 150, then i got down to 135 in about a month and a half, but it seems like my body just doesn’t want to lose anymore. about a month ago i started to jog or go on the elliptical for 30 minutes (5 km) everyday, or on the bike for 45 minutes. why am i not losing weight? or is it more fat burning that i should be doing? what are some pointers? ![]()
Because the website calculators are based on Adults over 25 with seditary habits (little movement). NOT 15 yr olds that are still growing!
17% body fat for your age is a perfectly acceptable target. I wouldnt drop too much lower unless your an athlete, with a trainer to help monitor you.
Your exersize program sounds great. Just lay off processed foods – especially foods and drinks with sugar. Popcorn is empty calories. It has no benefit other then making you full. An apple and a big glass of water will do that and more.
How to get rid of stomach fat?
Hi, I am 34 year old male and have a lot of fat around my stomach (beer belly) and that is the only problem area as it measures 35 inches. I am going to gym regularly from last 8 months and can see good results on my rest of the body but not much effect on stomach fat. I go to gym 5 days a week do 20-25 minutes of jogging/running, ab crunches twice a week and weight training. Regarding diet, I have already stopped eating carbs after 7 PM and dont eat rice, potatoes, cheese and other fatty things. I consume alcohol moderately once a week. Please suggest what should I do additionally to get rid of belly flab. Thanks in advance

I’m a 17 year old competitive female athlete and am continually excercising. I run 4-8 miles a day including an hour or so of weight training and play competitive soccer 4 days a week. I started off being VERY thin and petite and have worked my way to having an athletic built and am bigger than i’d prefer. I’m currently on my off season and it seems my muscle is turning to fat and i’m just gaining mass. How do I lose body fat and get my lean and toned figure back?
hey, you know what? The most unexpensive weight loss thing to do, is to try to burn more calories than you eat, dont eat unhealthy like a 500 calorie diet! All that will do is make you sick, you NEED to be healthy to lose weight properly. Im trying to lose weight too! Fruits and veggies are REALLY low in calories and FULL of nutrition. If you like Tacos? Ditch the hard shell, maybe try a taco salad.. without the shell of course! Lettuce with meat is good, but PLEASE try mixing it with turkey and beef so that it isnt all fat. Chicken salad is good, you want the protein but you dont want fried anything really, once in a while if fine but remember – YOU HAVE TO BURN OFF THOSE EXTRA CALORIES. Excersises excersise excersise. Dont over do it – dont starve yourself, be moderate and stay active. GOOGLE: 100 ways to burn 100 calories, their are some pretty cool things you can do!
Stay away from starchy and high carb foods – mostly white things. Bread is a bad, so try to stick to thin, HIGH in fiber, slices
you can google all the stuff and before you know it you will feel so good about it all and IM actually excited to start working out and all that, just because I know what it will do for me!
but if you must go with a diet, try Weight Watchers, its the only one I actually recommend.
How should I lose belly fat?
I think I might be overweight. I’m 14 and I’m about 5′8 and I weigh around 160 lbs and I have belly fat. Lately, I’ve been doing a lot of crunches and push-ups and I’ve been cutting out unhealthy foods. I’ve heard cardio is also necessary to help lose weight, but I get shortness of breath easily from running, so should I go biking instead? Please give me recommendations on how to lose weight and excess fat.

Ok, first off, I’d like to request to anyone answering to please be kind.
So, I just found out last week I’m blessed with pregnancy. Unbelievable, cause I already love my sweet pea.
Anyway, I am confused on what to eat. A part of me wants to loose fat as I am about 30 lbs overweight and had lost the 30 lbs earlier in the year and regained them in two months when told to stop working out if i’m TTC, so I did and bam! I got pregnant. Don’t know if that was the real reason.
Anyway, I don’t want to jeopardize my baby’s health. I do want to cut out junk food out of my diet. This morning I had a broccoli and cheese omelette with a strawberry smoothe, I had a cup of yogurt at 11 am and will have an apple in a while. Then I’ll go out to lunch at 1 pm and have a subway sandwich with a lemonade. I’ve been drinking water all day and will continue to do so. I’m planning on having 2 pieces of grilled chicken breast with a side of vegetable and a side salad and possibly a bit of whole wheat pasta of brown rice (not sure yet) I’ll also have another piece of fruit later in the evening and maybe some yogurt.
I take a prenatal vitamin daily.
Will I loose fat if I continue to eat like this? I don’t care if the number on the scale goes up or down. I just want to loose fat! I hate being overweight because I want my pregnant belly to show early on like most average size girls! Due to excess fat in my midsection, that probably won’t happen until I’m about 5 or 6 months.
My fat is distributed evenly throughout my body, so I don”t look bad, but I just want to know if it’s possible to loose fat while remaining healthy and keeping it safe for the baby.

It sounds like you are on the right track! Just keep doing what you are doing (you already eat healthier than me lol). I think you have a good idea of where to set your limits. I wouldn’t be too concerned about losing fat at this point. I weigh about 142 and i am in my 5th month and still not showing. That’s just the way my body works, though, you may start showing sooner than me no matter how much you weigh because your body is different than mine. The way you are eating and exercising can help you eliminate some of the unnecessary fat while keeping you healthy. Just make sure you consult your physician about where your boundaries should be. I think walking is a great way to keep your body in shape during pregnancy, as well as those fitness balls. Look online for pregnancy routines with those because they are low impact exercises that will help tone your body. Just make sure you are getting about 30 minutes of exercise each day and don’t try to do some strenuous workout routine, that would be bad lol. Hope this helped and best of luck! yep, crunches or sit ups. U don’t have to lay all the way down on the floor, clasp your hands behind your head and then just bring your shoulders up to your knees that are bent and then don’t go all the way back down on the floor. That is the way they do it in the military and man it works, hurts like the dickens, but works. Good nutrition and drinking lots of water does help but exercise will tighten up those muscles and your belly will be flat before u know it!
